Replace Hood Struts

Video Guide
Overview
If your hood no longer stays open, worn hood struts are the cause. This is a fast, beginner‑friendly repair that takes just a few minutes per side.
Step‑by‑Step
- Secure the hood. Open it fully and support it with one hand or a prop.
- Find the retaining clips. Each strut end is held on by a small metal clip.
- Pry the clip outward. Use a small flathead screwdriver—do not remove it completely.
- Pop the strut off. Pull it straight off the ball stud while supporting the hood.
- Install the new strut. Press it onto the ball stud until it snaps into place.
- Repeat on the other side.
Final Check
Slowly close and reopen the hood to confirm both struts are seated and the hood stays open on its own.
